Daddy Andre, a renowned musician who has out a new video dubbed ‘So’, last week gave fellow musicians some advice on what they can do so as to change their lives and the Ugandan music industry as a whole for the better.
According to Daddy Andre, Ugandan musicians need to unite together so as to have one bargaining voice, as a way of not only improving the industry but also their earnings as artists.
He however noted that this can only be achieved if every stakeholder, including government, talents promoters and the musicians, start looking at music as a product, instead of faces, like the case is today.
“We should consider looking at music as a product and not the faces, because only then we shall be able to tackle issues of the sector without bias,” Daddy Andre said.
Daddy Andre, who is a singer, songwriter, composer, producer and Talent Development Director at the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), was speaking in response to Hon. Kazibwe Bashir’s inquest during the interface with the Parliamentary Committee on ICT and National Guidance, on why there is no unified voice on musicians’ concerns last week.
However, putting the above matter aside, Daddy Andre continues to make a great impact on the Ugandan music scene with his latest studio project ‘So’, which is not only booming in night clubs but also posting thousands of YouTube views daily.
