Celebrated Kenyan artist Savara, who featured on Vic West’s mega banger ‘Kuna Kuna’ with Fathermoh, Brandy Maina and Thee Exit Band, is raising controversy because of his verse in the song.
With over 15.6M YouTube views and still counting, ‘Kuna Kuna’ remains the biggest song from Kenya to the world on the internet today.
However, much as the song was done by a collaboration of some of the finest Kenyan artists, there are some fans who contend that Savara’s verse nailed it, while others argue that it almost spoiled the whole project.
As if to highlight the great controversy, East Africa’s biggest music analysts Music Charts 254 on Tuesday March 14, 2023 tweeted thus; “Savara’s verse in ‘Kuna Kuna’ has to be the most divisive. Judging by the YouTube comments, it has received extreme reviews; some love it and consider it the best verse in the song, while others feel that it spoiled the song. There is no middle ground.”
Indeed, there is no middle ground in this controversy, because no matter the opinions from fans, ‘Kuna Kuna’ is getting bigger every day and is now on the road to making 16M YouTube views.
