The fraternity of creative arts and the music industry in Uganda is mourning the untimely demise of Kato Labwama, one of the pioneers of Uganda’s entertainment industry.
Lubwama, who was one of Uganda’s legendary drama actors, musician, scriptwriter, politician and radio personality, passed away in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, aged 52 years old.
Family sources reveal that prior to his death, Lubwama suffered a heart attack and was rushed to Stana Medical Centre in Bunamwaya, a Kampala suburb, where medics later pronounced him dead.
Lubwama, who can aptly be referred to as a jack of many trades, has left a lasting impression on Uganda’s entertainment industry and will be missed by many people, because of his immense contribution to the country’s entertainment industry.
Popularly remembered for his role at Mengo owned radio station CBS FM, where he was co-host of a famous morning show dubbed Kalisoliso, Lubwama was also the Director of Royal Theater from 2010 till his demise.
He was also the Director, Diamonds Ensemble, a popular drama group and a former Member of Parliament for Rubaga South Constituency from 2016 to 2021.
Besides his works in the creatives industry, Lubwama was also a businessman dealing in the sale of maize flour and a renowned media personality, who was the proprietor of B24TV in Uganda.
Details of his final sendoff shall be revealed in our subsequent updates, although our condolences go to his family, relatives and the entire music fraternity in Uganda.
